Sorority to host kick off event for Relay for Life
‘ ‘ Colleges Against Cancer and Sigma Phi Epsilon will host ‘Painting the Campus Purple’ to kick off a Relay for Life event, Alicia Jones from Colleges Against Cancer said in an e-mail to The News. Relay for Life is an event run by the American Cancer Society that celebrates patients battling cancer, and remembers those who have lost their battle against the disease. The campus event will kick off with a barbecue in Centennial Quad on Thursday at 1 p.m., and the Relay for Life event will be Friday at Harvard University’s Gordon Indoor Track with opening ceremonies beginning at 6:30 p.m. To register a group, go to www.relayforlife.org/allu.

Light Hall wins Do It In the Dark competition
Light Hall won Do It In the Dark, Husky Energy Action Team’s (HEAT) annual energy saving competition, according to HEAT’s website. The competition ran for three weeks, where Facilities monitored each residence building’s energy usage twice a week. Light Hall, which houses about 70 students, had the lowest energy usage at 55.73 percent. All residents of Light Hall will be given free massages for a day during finals week, and residents will be entered into a raffle for individual prizes.’

Fenway Center to hold Holy Week 2009
The Fenway Center will hold a number of events this week in celebration of Holy Week 2009, according to an announcement on the myNEU portal. On Thursday, there will be Mass of the Lord’s Supper at 7:30 p.m. On Friday there will be an Ecumenical Service at noon, then Way of the Cross at 2 p.m. in the Krentzman Quad, and Celebration of the Lord’s Passion back at the Fenway Center at 6 p.m. The events will conclude Sunday with Easter Mass at 12:30 p.m. For more information call the Catholic Center at 617-373-8964 or email [email protected].

Comedian Hal Sparks to perform Wednesday
Comedian and actor Hal Sparks will perform standup at Blackman Auditorium at 7 p.m. Wednesday, according to Northeastern’s Campus Calendar. Sparks has been on Showtime’s ‘Queer as Folk’ and VH1’s ‘I Love the ‘hellip;’ series. The event is co-sponsored by Sigma Delta Tau, Sigma Beta Rho and The Northeastern University Bisexual, Lesbian and Gay Association (NUBiLaGA). Tickets are being sold at the Northeastern box office and are $5 with an NU ID.
