Patrick Barry, a former Northeastern student who was charged with two assaults last year and recently arraigned for indecent assault and battery on a 14 year-old, died in custody on Friday.
Barry, 21, of Medford, had undergone routine medical screening on Feb. 14, according to a press release from the Middlesex Sheriff’s Office.
He was in the custody of the Middlesex sheriff.
“Middlesex Sheriff’s Office medical personnel determined that Mr. Barry required emergency care and he was transported to Lowell General Hospital,” the sheriff’s report said. Barry had not reported any medical problems when in custody.
“Mr. Barry was later transferred to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center,” the report said, “where he passed away early this morning.”
