Northeastern swimming and diving head coach Roy Coates announced his captains for the upcoming season July 23.
Soon-to-be-seniors Jaclyn Dalessandro and Kathrine Fugge were chosen along with rising junior Jennyfer Roberts to lead the team in 2009-10.
Dalessandro, from Washington, Penn., comptes in the breaststroke and had her best outing last season Feb. 7 against Dartmouth with a third-place finish in the 100-meter event.
Fugge, from Framingham, Conn., won five events last year and broke three school records. She won the 100-meter butterfly Oct. 17 against Boston College, the 100-meter freestyle against Maine and Central Connecticut Oct. 23., the 100-meter butterfly Dec. 6 against the University of Massachusetts, the 400-meter medley relay against Vermont Jan. 24, and won both the 200-meter freestyle and 200-meter individual medley against Dartmouth Dec. 7. She also’ helped break three school records Feb. 27 and 28 at the Colonial Athletic Association Championship by competing in the 200, 400, and 800-meter freestyle relay races.
Roberts, from Waterboro, Maine, competes as a diver and had her best performances with a fourth-place finish in the 1-meter dive and fifth-place finish in the 3-meter dive Oct. 17 against Boston College.
Coates also announced the schedule for the upcoming season July 16. Kicking off Oct. 17, the Huskies will host Central Connecticut State and Maine. Next, Boston College will make the short trip to Barletta Natatorium Oct. 30. Other home meets will be Dec. 5 vs. the University of Massachusetts and Feb. 6 with Dartmouth. The annual Colonial Athletic Association championships will be held Feb. 24 to 27 at George Mason in Fairfax, Virginia.
The team’s annual black versus red intrasquad meet will be Oct. 3 at 9 a.m. in Barletta Natatorium.
