Coolidge Corner is a popular neighborhood in Brookline, home to the popular Coolidge Corner Theatre. The center of the neighborhood is found at Harvard and Beacon streets, named for the Coolidge brothers’ general store that opened at the intersection in 1857. A very walkable area, Coolidge houses many small coffee shops, boutiques and a popular independent bookstore where notable people, such as Wil Wheaton, have made appearances. A center for Boston’s Jewish community, large synagogues are on both Beacon and Harvard streets. Coolidge Corner hosts a popular farmers market on Thursday’s in the summer and fall. Near Coolidge Corner, on Beals St., is the birthplace of John F. Kennedy.
