Even though it’s too late to join in on Movember, there are plenty of charities for good samaritans to support, especially as Thanksgiving and the winter months approach. And if you so choose to grow a sweet ‘stache (or if you’re a lady, don a fake one), well then, you’ll just be the coolest volunteer at the soup kitchen, or wherever you choose to give back.
Food For Free
Based at 11 Inman St. in Cambridge, Food For Free volunteers rescue food and produce that might otherwise go to waste and help deliver them to human service agencies. Volunteers can assist with transportation, deliveries, office work or get down an dirty working in a garden. For more information, visit Foodforfree.org.
Boston Volvo 5K Road Race
The race takes place Thanksgiving Day, and interested parties can register online for $20 until Nov. 22, or on the day of the race for $25. If spending Thanksgiving running a race sounds unappealing at first mention, just think about the appetite you’ll work up. Proceeds benefit the National Multiple Sclerosis Society by funding education, support and research. Visit Nationalmssociety.org for more information.
