New frozen yogurt store to celebrate opening
Red Mango, an all-natural nonfat frozen yogurt store, will celebrate its grand opening at 334 Massachusetts Ave. on Saturday, according to a press release. Attendees will receive a free small yogurt of any flavor plus one topping, and the event will feature DJ Tamer Malki. Public Relations group holds logo contest
Northeastern University’s Public Relations Student Society of America (NUPRSSA) is holding a competition for students to create a new logo for the student group, according to a press release. The logo should incorporate Northeastern or Boston in some way, and be submitted by Dec. 14 to [email protected]. The winner will be announced Dec. 17, and will receive a prize. Relay for Life kicks off Sunday at afterHOURS
Northeastern will have its first Relay for Life in conjunction with the American Cancer Society, according to an e-mail from Emma O’Brien, the marketing and website chair of the NU chapter. A kickoff event for this spring’s Relay will be held Sunday in afterHOURS, from 5 to 7 p.m. There, event organizers will provide information, free food and entertainment. A capella group to hold holiday show Sunday
Distilled Harmony, a campus a capella group, will hold its Holly Jolly Holiday Show Sunday at 7:30 p.m. in the Fenway Center. It will be the group’s final concert of the semester and it will be performing a few holiday songs along with some of their classics. Tickets are free and available at the NU Box Office. Distilled Harmony will also be giving out two free tickets to a performance by Straight No Chaser, a professional a cappella group, according to an event poster.

Snell Library holds naming contest for new area
Snell Library is sponsoring a naming contest for a new reading area that will debut in Spring 2010. The area will allow students to ‘star gaze upon bestsellers, literary fiction, graphic novels, DVDs, and prize-winning non-fiction all in the same place,’ according to an announcement on myNEU. The winning entry will be displayed on the library’s website and throughout Snell and the winner will receive a $100 gift card to the Northeastern Bookstore. Participants can enter multiple times and entries can be submitted online through the library’s website at www.lib.neu.edu/namingcontest.’ Entries are due by Dec. 9 and the winners will be announced Dec. 21.’

NU Orchestra to perform Mozart, Dvorak
The Northeastern orchestra will perform Tuesday night at 8 p.m. in the Fenway Center. The program will feature Mozart’s ‘Die Hochzeit Des Figaro,’ from the opera The Marriage of Figaro, Witold Lutoslawski’s ‘Mala Suites’, and Antonin Dvorak’s ‘Symphony no. 4’ in G-major. Admission is free.
