Beanpot tickets on sale Monday
Tickets for the Beanpot go on sale Monday Jan. 18th at 3 p.m. according o an e-mail sent to students. The side doors of Matthews Arena will open at 1 p.m. When students enter, they will receive a ticket with a number on it. At 2 p.m., men’s hockey practice starts and at 2:45 p.m., the first 100 students will be called to line. At 3 p.m. ticket sales will start. As the line diminishes, more students will be called in over a P.A. system. For those on co-op Jan. 8th and are unable to make the sale, another sale will take place Jan. 21 at 7 p.m. in similar fashion (this sale is for co-op students only). Students must have valid husky card and can only purchase one ticket with their husky’ card. Northeastern plays Boston University on Monday, February 1 at 8 p.m. in the Beanpot’s first round. The winner of the BU-NU game will play the winner of Harvard and Boston College on Monday, February 8 at 8 p.m. All games are played at the T.D. Garden.
Latin Cooking Lessons next week
‘ ‘ On Wednesday Jan. 20th from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. the Latino American Student Association (LASO) invites students, faculty, and staff to learn about Latino recipes and cooking styles in the Latino/a Student Cultural Center according to the campus calendar. They will provide food ways to make new meals. For more information, call 617-373-5845. The event is open to faculty, staff, students and the public.
America’s Acheivement Gap panel discussion
‘ ‘ On Thursday Jan. 21st at 3 p.m. the John D. O’Bryant African American Institute, The Latino/a Student Cultural Center, and the Departments of Political Science and Law will host a panel discussion on America’s Acheivement Gap and the ways it can be closed in 10 Behrakis. An Administrator from the Department of Education, a Teach For America Director of Alumni Relations and a Northeastern researcher and faculty member will share personal experiences on the acheivement gap and the ways they are helping to close it. NU Hall of famer to visit Jan. 27
‘ ‘ Northeastern Black Student Association (NBSA) hosts a general body meeting Jan. 27th at 7 p.m. in the African American Institute. Wayne ‘Beanpot’ Turner ,will attend. He is a Northeastern Hall of Famer and legend. In the 80s, he was on the first ever Northeastern hockey team to win the Beanpot. For more information contact the NBSA e-board at [email protected].
