Readers,
I regret to inform you that a fundamental change in the leadership at The Huntington News has been made following the publishing of incorrect information regarding the closing of the Center for Labor Market Studies. The article, which was published in the Oct. 9 issue of The News, was compiled by a reporter after poor choices were made in regards to where information was gathered. As a result, much of what was stated in the article has since been discovered to be inaccurate.
It is always the goal of The News to deliver the timeliest and most truthful information possible, and steps have been taken to ensure this does not happen again. The person responsible for the article has been dismissed from all duties and responsibilities associated with The News.
In addition, we would like to point you to the letter printed above from former Northeastern employee Paul Harrington, in which he outlines and corrects false claims made in the original article. A link to the original PDF can be found at the bottom of this page.
On behalf of the entire staff, I would like to apologize for the oversight that allowed this to become an issue. There are no excuses for the actions of the reporter or any others involved with The News. We would also like to extend a personal apology to Mr. Harrington, director of the Center for Labor Markets and Policy at Drexel University, as well as Sheila Palma, former administrative assistant at The Center for Labor Market Studies at Northeastern.
The News will continue to strive to operate at the highest journalistic standard and will oversee changes in leadership and policy to ensure this problem is not repeated.
Thank you for your continued readership.
