The good news is, the men’s soccer team is undefeated four games into Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) conference play. The bad news? They haven’t won a single game, either.

The team has tied all four of their matches, landing them in seventh place. Only Old Dominion, ranked third in the nation, has yet to lose a game in the conference. It’s the frustrating truth for the Huskies as they tied both their games at home this past week against Towson and George Mason, sending their record to 1-5-5, 0-0-4 CAA.

The Huskies dominated the run of play against George Mason (4-4-3, 0-1-3 CAA) at Parsons Field Friday evening, but could not produce a goal for their efforts, as both teams ended two overtime periods deadlocked at 0-0.

Sunday’s game against 20th- ranked Towson at Parsons Field marked a change of pace for the Huskies, as they grabbed the lead when sophomore forward Greg Kilkenny scored his fourth goal of the season 10 minutes from halftime. The Tigers would find the equalizer with 23 minutes left as midfielder Cesar Cisneros collected a rebound off his own shot and blasted it into the top corner past goalie Sergio Saccoccio.

NU coach Brian Ainscough spoke encouragingly to his team after the game, but knows they should have ended the week with more than two points.

“Realistically, I feel that we could have won the four games,” Ainscough said. “If you look back at all the statistics over the last two games, we were the better team.”

The Huskies still possess no losses on their conference record, but that might change when they face fellow unbeaten and top-ranked Old Dominion on Friday.

“I told my guys that we have four points, but I look at it that we’ve given away eight,” Ainscough said.
