Crime of the Week: Sunday, Nov. 1
1:28 a.m.
A caller reported a fight between eight people, both male and female, was occurring outside Renaissance Park. The Northeastern University Police Department (NUPD) responded and was flagged down by someone who reported three males, one in a cow suit and potentially possessing a knife, had already fled. A Northeastern University (NU) student matching the description was found on the upper busway exiting onto Ruggles Street. A discarded knife was recovered within the reach of the party. The suspect denied ownership. A report was filed.
Monday, Oct. 26
1:22 p.m.
An NU lecturer in Shillman Hall reported a disruptive and verbally aggressive student refused to leave her class. NUPD spoke to both the male subject and the professor, who said the discussion was heated.
8:33 p.m.
An NU student reported cash went missing from her dorm room in West Village A approximately two weeks ago. Several guests had been in and out of her room during the past two weeks.
Tuesday, Oct. 27
2:04 a.m.
A Resident Assistant (RA) in Stetson East reported graffiti on a whiteboard. NUPD spoke with the RA and the Residence Director (RD) on duty. Neither was offended by the graffiti; each was informed of their Title IX rights.
2:59 p.m.
A caller reported her wallet had just been stolen outside of a room in Snell Engineering and the two suspects were heading into the tunnels. NUPD checked the area with negative results but found the subjects on surveillance footage. The victim reported her cell phone had also been stolen, but she had been able to get it back. Another staff member approached NUPD to report her phone was stolen out of the same office. A report was filed.
Wednesday, Oct. 28
4:18 p.m.
Squashbusters Center staff reported an NU student informed them his wallet had been stolen from the third floor. A report was filed.
6:11 p.m.
An NU student secured his bike to the Ryder Hall bike rack with a U-lock and returned to find it missing. A report was filed.
Thursday, Oct. 29
8:53 a.m.
A program coordinator reported that the previous day at approximately 12:45 p.m., his Trek bike was stolen from the racks outside of 101 Belvedere St. A report was filed.
12:04 p.m.
An NUPD officer was approached by a Vanguard employee who witnessed someone stealing his bicycle from Cunard Street. The suspect had last been seen walking towards the Ruggles Station lower busway. NUPD identified and stopped the subject, who was not a Northeastern student. The male informed them he had been with the person who stole the bike but had not done so and did not have it in his possession. His information was collected, and he was sent on his way. A report was filed.
1:39 p.m.
An NU student reported her bag was stolen while she was riding the Green Line on Saturday, Oct. 24. A report was filed.
6:26 p.m.
An NU staff member reported she lost her wallet somewhere on campus and is unsure if it was stolen. A report was filed.
Friday, Oct. 30
12:42 p.m.
An RA in Davenport B reported finding marijuana in a dorm room while conducting room inspections. NUPD responded and confiscated less than one ounce of the substance. A report was filed.
7:37 p.m.
Staff in the Curry Student Center food court reported finding fake currency in several cash registers when closing for the evening. A report was filed.
11:28 p.m.
NUPD requested Emergency Medical Services (EMS) for an intoxicated male in front of 780 Columbus Ave. who was conscious but not alert. EMS arrived and transported the subject, who was not a Northeastern student, to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.
11:33 p.m.
An RA in Willis Hall reported the fire extinguisher from the sixth floor hallway was stolen. NUPD responded and found the extinguisher, which was not discharged but will need to be examined and have the seal replaced. NUPD’s Fire Safety Unit was notified and a report was filed.
Saturday, Oct. 31
12:53 a.m.
An unresponsive male outside of 69 Gainsborough St. was reported. NUPD responded and found the male, unaffiliated with Northeastern, was intoxicated. EMS transported the subject to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center for further evaluation.
1:03 a.m.
An RA reported an extremely intoxicated male on Forsyth Street outside of Stetson West. NUPD responded and found the male unresponsive. A passerby believed the male may have fallen and hit his head on the sidewalk, although NUPD did not find visible signs of injury. EMS responded and reported the subject’s eyes were dilated. The man, who was unaffiliated with the university, was transported to Massachusetts General Hospital.
2:10 a.m.
An intoxicated male was reported in International Village. NUPD responded and requested EMS, who transported the subject to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. The RD on call was notified.
6:40 p.m.
The RD in Stetson West reported a student stated a fellow student assaulted him with a chokehold in the second floor hallway of the building the previous night. No injuries were reported. A report was filed.
Sunday, Nov. 1
1:56 a.m. (Before Daylight Savings Time)
A friend reported a female Northeastern student was intoxicated. NUPD responded to Symphony Road and requested EMS for the student, who was conscious and semi-alert. EMS arrived and denied transport. The student planned to stay with a friend.
1:08 a.m.
A friend reported a male NU student was intoxicated in the lobby of 122 St. Stephen St. NUPD responded and spoke to the student, who was transported by EMS to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center for further evaluation. The RD on call was notified.
1:48 a.m.
A proctor in West Village G felt threatened by a resident who was no longer in the area. NUPD responded and spoke to the student resident who had made verbal threats against the proctor and another NU student who was involved. A report was filed.
10:04 p.m.
An RA called to report she was speaking with a resident of West Village H who had a physical altercation with his roommate the previous night. NUPD responded and reported the two roommates shoved one another during the fight. Parties were advised of their Title IX rights. A report was filed.
