“Janie’s Song” world premieres Friday and Saturday in Blackman Auditorium at 8 p.m. The play contains rock, rap, pop, and Broadway-type show tunes and will be performed by professional actors from New York City and Boston, including Ben Wiggins, a 2002 graduate with a degree in physics and theatre. Wiggins, pictured above at rehearsal, plays Mort Silverstein in the play. Directed by Del Lewis, the play is a musical adaptation of Ed Bullins’ “The Taking of Miss Janie,” which received the New York Drama Critics Circle Award and the OBIE, an off-broadway theater award. Tickets are $5 for students; $15 for faculty/staff; $20 for public; and can be purchased through www.centerforthearts.neu.edu and the ticket center in Ell Hall.
