The Department of Residential Life sent letters to all residential students two weeks ago outlining new measures that will be implemented to improve campus security. One of those measures is the addition of closed-circuit security cameras to all lobby areas of residence halls, staff increases in the Department of Residential Life and an end to student access to neighboring residence halls.
Thomas Cote, associate director of Residential Life and Security, said the new measures are intended to protect students. He said the plan for closed-circuit cameras has been in the works for over a year, and is now approved by university administrators and will go into effect March 13.
