The women’s soccer team is, for the most part, dominating the competition en route to a 6-2-1 start, matching their win total from a year ago.
After nine games, NU has relinquished just eight goals, shutting out their opponents five times. Aside from a 4-0 blanking at the hands of Boston College, previously ranked No. 23, and a 2-0 loss to No. 9 Penn State, coach Ed Matz’s squad has allowed a mere two goals in seven games, while scoring 15.
“We’re happy,” Matz said. “We’re happy to be getting wins.” He continued emphasizing that this season his team is more experienced and well-rounded on both sides of the ball.
