Kappa Sigma Busts Nuts Against Cancer
Kappa Sigma raised over $600 to benefit the Lance Armstrong Foundation (LAF) last week in its annual “Busting Our Nuts to Save Yours” fundraiser, according to a press release. From March 8-12, they sold candy, peanuts, and LIVESTRONG bracelets provided by LAF. The event was sponsored by Coca-Cola and Rockstar Energy Drinks.

Maya Angelou to Speak at Blackman
Dr. Maya Angelou, a celebrated poet, novelist, and civil rights activist, will speak at Blackman Auditorium this Friday, according to the Facebook event page. The event, An Evening with Maya Angelou, has already sold out. Over 600 students, faculty, and others will be attending the talk, which will be followed by a similar engagement in Salem.

Kathy Griffin tickets on sale tonight
Emmy award winner and standup comedian Kathy Griffin, of Bravo’s “My Life on the D List”, will perform in Matthews Arena on Wed. April 7 at 8 p.m. according to the myNEU portal. Student tickets go on sale tonight at 7 p.m. through the myNEU portal. Tickets are $10, and limited to two per student. Tickets for faculty go on sale Friday, March 26 at noon.

First Relay for Life this weekend
The highly-anticipated Relay for Life at Northeastern will take place from 6 p.m. March 27 to 6 a.m. March 28 in Matthews Arena, according to its Facebook page. The 122 registered teams and 1,402 participants have fundraised just short of $100,000 so far. Events at Relay itself will include team spirit competitions and other activities. Registration is still opened and can be done online through the American Cancer Society website.

Maya Angelou to Speak at Blackman
The NU Choral Society will hold its annual spring concert on Sunday at 7:30 p.m. at the Fenway Center according to an announcement on the myNEU portal. Doors open at 7 p.m. Tickets can be purchased for $5 at the box office in Ell Hall or online at GoNU.com/ticket. Students can also purchase tickets from chorus members directly, and leftover tickets will be sold at the door. The program, entitled “Sing of Spring, Sing of Love”, will include parts of Carl Orff’s famous “Carmina Burana.”
