Living in the vibrant area of Northeastern University, it’s easy to get trapped in and never venture beyond the Back Bay.
After you get out of Back Bay, there’s still a variety of things to do that are probably interesting to almost anyone, and equally inexpensive. Thankfully, Boston has a subway system like the Green Line, which connects its passengers to basically any part of the city.
Accessibility is definitely not a problem if you’re taking the Green Line. There’s a stop as close as the middle of Northeastern’s campus on Huntington Ave. From there, you can get on the E-line, which is one of four smaller branches that travel out to other residential areas of Boston. If you go outbound toward the Museum of Fine Arts, down Huntington Ave., there is no cost at anytime. While the outbound direction is largely residential, but the Back of the Hill stop leaves you right next to a park with some woodsy trails. These are especially nice if you want to get away from the city, or are sick of exercising at the Fens. To get back, going the inbound direction will cost a dollar.
Inbound, from Northeastern, is probably the best bet to find something to do on the weekend. Only two T-stops away, is the Prudential Center, where one can cure their shopping fix at the ground floor mall of the Prudential Building. Places to shop include Barnes ‘ Noble, Levi’s or Sak’s Fifth Avenue
