Calendar girls reveal Husky pride in poses

A group of Northeastern students and graduates offered a spicy alternative to traditional datebooks at the release party of the Girls of Northeastern 2007 – 2008 Calendar at Qdoba Thursday night.

Female Northeastern students featured in the calendar were on-hand to sign autographs as dozens of students were treated to free burritos when they signed up for event-tracking website Going.com. The music and a looping video showing the process of shooting the calendar played in the background.

The production of the calendar, which features female Northeastern students posing for each month from September 2007 to August 2008, was started by recent graduate Matt Handy and student Bilal Sabrah through their company Fox University, an organization dedicated to creating calendars that showcase female talent from college campuses.

In the calendar, the girls are shown wearing everything from bathing suits to Red Sox shirts in a variety of provocative but tasteful poses.

Sabrah, a senior business major, and Handy, who graduated in May with a degree in business, met in classes and decided to put the calendar together as a business venture.

“We started looking into it and moving through the process as if we would do it,” Handy said. “The more people we talked to, the more [it felt] like everyone’s getting into it, sponsors are on board and people are really excited.”
