BRC allocates more than $6,000 for student groups The Budget Review Committee (BRC) allocated money to three student groups and denied funding to one student group at the meeting Wednesday. Phi Delta Chi was allocated about $920 for the Bouve Health Fair and Flu Clinic Nov. 27. The purpose of this event is to launch a campus-wide health fair offering health-related services and information to the Northeastern community, according to its funding request. The event will include an HIV awareness and testing information session, a smoking cessation clinic, flu shots and cholesterol testing. The BRC also allocated more than $5,000 to the Northeastern Black Student Association for “1001 Black Inventions.” This event, which is Nov. 27, shows students what it would be like if inventions by black inventors didn’t exist. The Minority Association for Pre-Health Students was denied funding for its annual Thanksgiving dinner, partially because the BRC did not feel the event was geared toward Northeastern students. Meanwhile, the Northeastern Panhellenic Council (NPHC) was approved $325 to send a member to the NPHC Annual Conference. – Kate Augusto, New Staff
