The plan which the Student Government Association has put into place, issuing a referendum to increase the Student Activities Fee from $17 per quarter to a flat fee of $100 per year, would be a positive change once semester conversion is in effect.
According to Sam Klar, chairman of the Committee for the Student Activities Fee Adjustment, the increase of the fee would expand the amount of funding going to all student groups across campus.
For the increase to go into effect, 15 percent of the students on campus must vote. SGA is making it easy for students to vote by posting the referendum on the myNEU Web site, and by sending street teams around campus to hand out information on the issue.
What other place to make your vote count than on campus. Voting in a national or state election is as easy as going down the street, but even easier is logging on to the web.
The fee increase is a welcomed change and will allow student groups to have better budgeting resources to plan bigger and better programs and events.
