I have to say that when I opened The News Feb. 28, I was severely upset by the “For the Records” article published. The article is well written, but the reason I am upset is because it is similar to an article that was printed in the December/January issue of Tastemakers Music Magazine.
The article was called “Vinyl Frontier” and was about the prevalence of vinyl in this current industry – the exact thing your latest article was about. The topic wasn’t the only thing that upset me though, because I understand that this will probably be written about more than once, but your writer conducted the same interview as our writer as well.
Tastemakers may only be in its second year and hardly has the funds to print at a capacity like The News does, so it’s a little disconcerting to think that The News is repeating our articles. We are rapidly growing and looking for more ways to expand. I hope that The News doesn’t continue to repeat our articles so that we can continue to grow as Northeastern’s music magazine and generate more interest among students.
