Local punk rockers 12cent will be performing at Bill’s Bar on Landsdowne Street Monday, Nov. 25. 12cent has been playing local clubs, bars, and even select locations on the Warped Tour in an effort provide their new CD release, “Bastard Music,” with some momentum.
The album will be released at the show for only $5. The CD will also be available at Newbury Comics for $2.99. As for the cheap price, the band released a statement saying, “We just want everyone to have it, it’s more important for us. We would give it to everyone for free if we could.”
This kind of fan appreciation is not commonly seen these days. A walk into any major record store with CD prices reaching well over $15 is not only common, but almost expected. According to an article in The Chicago Tribune, The White Stripes and Tom Petty have made their CDs under $10 so more people can afford to buy their albums. It’s a win-win situation for everyone and 12cent is bringing this philosophy to Boston.
After the show, the band is planning on going on tour. A “Win Tour,” throughout the winter, will try to hit spots all over the U.S. Their main goal is to have people listen to them and have a good time.
“We just try to have as much fun as we can, and we want everyone to be able to do the same,” said the band.
If you’re into a good time, and want see something refreshing, then take a night out and listen to the band at Bill’s Bar on Landsdowne Street. They are planned to go on around 9:15 p.m. For more information and MP3’s, 12cent is located online at 12cent.com.
