Men’s hockey assistant coach Shawn McEachern resigned last week and thus will not be a member of the Northeastern coaching staff for the 2008-09 season.
Head coach Greg Cronin said McEachern felt it was time to explore other career opportunities, but that he didn’t know about McEachern’s plans for the future.
“He just felt it was time to move on. He’s been here for a year and a half,” Cronin said. “I don’t know what he’s going to do. He’s a talented guy, he’s a good coach, he’s a good person. He just wanted to move forward.”
Northeastern was the first coaching position McEachern held since leaving the NHL after a 14-year career that included considerable time with the Boston Bruins and Ottawa Senators, among other teams. He began coaching midway through the 2006-07 season at Northeastern.
