The indoor season did not start off well for the Huskies and they struggled through the season with finishes like third (of three major competitors) at the Reebok Boston Indoor Games and fourth (of four) at the Battle of Beantown. Senior captain Tramaine Shaw said the New England championships was the first time the team felt like it truly came together.
“I would say the best moment came at New England,” she said. “I finally broke eight (in the 55 meter hurdles), and it was my last time competing in an indoor meet. It felt good for me to finally do that with my last chance to do it there.”
Shaw had a strong showing in the meet, as she missed breaking a Northeastern record by five hundredths of a second in the 55-meter hurdles. Porshe Giddings took third in both the 55- and 200-meters. The lady Huskies showed their team unity, by taking home the 4 x 400-meter relay.
The Huskies also showed potential for a promising future at the meet. Lead by sophomore Jordan Thull who won the pole vault, the Huskies had four men who placed in the top three of four events.
The growth of the Huskies at the New England championships served as the peak to what was a long climb for the team this season.
