A Northeastern record was broken this weekend when the men’s and women’s track teams competed at the Patriot Open Invitational in Fairfax, Va.
Senior Tramaine Shaw topped the Northeastern record in the 100-meter hurdles, setting the new time-to-beat at 13.67. Her performance in the slight head-wind earned her second in the event.
On top of breaking the school record, she broke her personal best of 13.71, set at the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Championships last season.
Shaw was not the only standout performance for an NU athlete in the meet, as juniors Nancy Rowe and Katherine Sherman also took the javelin and captured first in the high jump, respectively.
The meet for the men’s team was highlighted by the only first-place finish, which came from junior Dan Anderson in the pole vault, clearing a height of 15-feet-3-inches. Sophomore Jonathan Hall had the next highest finish, taking second place in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 53.42.
Both the men’s and women’s teams are back on the track with championships at stake in the coming weeks. The men’s team with compete in the IC4A Championships, and the women’s team in the ECAC Championships. Both will be held at Princetown from May 16-18.
