Steven Director will become Northeastern’s provost July 1, said university spokesperson Fred McGrail. Director currently holds the same position at Drexel University in Pennsylvania, according to the university’s website. Director graduated from the State University of New York at Stony Brook in 1965, according to Drexel’s website, and completed both master’s and doctoral degrees in electrical engineering at the University of California at Berkeley. The new provost is also a member of the National Academy of Engineering and a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, according a release from Northeastern. He has served as dean of engineering at the University of Michigan and Carnegie Mellon University.
