Islamic Society holds Ramadan fast break dinners The Islamic Society of Northeastern is holding Iftars, dinners breaking the Ramadan fast, every Monday through Thursday during the Muslim spiritual holiday, according to a myNEU announcement. The Society will offer the Iftars in 403 Ell Hall. Women’s a capella group to have auditions tonight Treble on Huntington’s all female a cappella group is holding auditions tonight from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. in 302 Kariotis Hall, according to a myNEU announcement. Students should be prepared to sing a song of their choice for 30 to 60 seconds, the announcement said. Students interested in auditioning can e-mail [email protected].

Meetings for new study abroad in India Informational meetings to study abroad in India will be held Sept. 24 at noon and Oct. 2 at 3 p.m., according to a myNEU announcement. Both meetings will be held in 315 Shillman Hall. The full-semester program allows students to examine Indian global interventions and organizations through lectures, community programs, cultural exchanges and site visits, according to the announcement. Students can enroll in classes like Global PACT India, intercultural studies through human services and trans-national activism and global civil society.

Alexandra Kerry to host talk Thursday at noon Alexandra Kerry, the daughter of Massachusetts Senator John Kerry, will come to Northeastern Sept. 18 to discuss her new book, “Notes from the Trail: A View on Politics Through the Windshield,” according to a myNEU announcement. Northeastern libraries, the department of political science and the Northeastern bookstore is sponsoring the event, which will be held at 90 Snell Library and begin at noon. In her book, Kerry captures America through photographs and written recollections as she documents her personal perspective on her father’s 2004 bid for the presidency.

NU to participate in philanthropy program Campus Compact and the Fidelity Charitable Gift Fund selected Northeastern’s Human Services Program and the university’s Center of Community Services to participate in the 2008-09 academic year’s Students4Giving program, according to a university announcement. The program, aimed at inspiring and educating future philanthropists, will teach students about non-profit organizations and fundraising as part of a series of courses and activities that involve community outreach and partnerships with Boston-area non-profit organizations, the announcement said.
