RSA votes to explore music download services
The Resident Student Association (RSA) voted at their June 4 meeting in favor of legislation recommending that the university remain open to the possibility of collaborating with music providers to allow free downloads for students, according to a release from the organization. RSA, however, voted specifically not to recommend a partnership with the Ruckus music service. Ruckus contacted RSA for help in forging a relationship with the university to provide free downloads for students. It threatened to “cut off” students from individually using their services if the university did not agree to a partnership. The legislation passed by RSA recommended that the university not pursue a relationship with Ruckus because of what it termed “unacceptable business practices.”
