Men’s track sophomore sprinter Idris Payne has been selected as this week’s NU News Player of the Week. It is the second week in a row Payne has been selected. At last weekend’s Great Dane Classic in New York City, Payne tied a 23-year-old record in the 400 with his time of 47.75. Payne was named the meets Outstanding Performer. Payne placed first in the 200 as well, with a time of 21.91 seconds, in addition to running on the fourth place 4×400 meter relay team. Last week, Payne set the NU record in the 200, racing to a time of 21.7 seconds against Harvard. Payne has now won seven of his eight races this season. He’s earned 40 of his teams total 188.5 points through the first two meets.
