I’ve Seen It All

Last Sunday’s Golden Globes ceremony was taken very seriously by some peers.

I met this boy through a friend the night before the Golden Globes who said, “some people have beer and pizza for the Super Bowl, I get the beer and pizza for the Golden Globes. I take those things very seriously.”

A friend of mine from back home was saying his office had a pool going to see who would win best actress or what movie would be crowned superior to the next.

The Golden Globes could be considered an RSVP for the main event, The Academy Awards.

I just hope the actors and actresses who show up at the Academy Awards on March 23 don’t wear similar costumes they wore to last Sunday’s ceremony.

A few standouts for the oddest garb were Lara Flynn Boyle, the ballerina, and Sharon Stone, the lacy dominatrix.

I remember Bjork’s costume as the swan and her adorable egg purse, but she’s expected to be out of the ordinary. I think she even looked cute. So, sticking with that theme, Boyle’s tutu and lace-up slippers can be applauded as her being gutsy. The supporting actress from Wayne’s World has always been seen as sort of softspoken, but now she was catapulted into the spotlight because of what she wore.

Stone’s lace-up black boots shouldn’t be applauded because they were hideous.

I didn’t even recognize her, unfortunately she may be known for this outfit for some time. Remember her previous fashion claim to fame? She wore a Gap t-shirt to an awards ceremony, unheard of in tinsel town.

Hopefully, by the time the Academy Awards roll around the make up on the women will be toned down, the dresses a little less risky and fashion returns to its classy roots.

More actors and actresses should take cues from such thespians as Renee Zellweger and Catherine Zeta-Jones, they looked beautiful and classy.
