Northeastern alumnus Carlos Pena wins AL Gold Glove at 1B
Prior to the World Series last month, Husky baseball manager Neil McPhee raved about former Husky and current Tampa Bay Ray Carlos Pena’s defense at first base.
The rest of baseball must have taken notice too, as Pena won his first Gold Glove at first base Friday. The award was the first Gold Glove in Tampa Bay franchise history.
Pena, the 2007 American League Comeback Player of the Year and Silver Slugger winner, posted a .998 fielding percentage in 1,099 chances, tied for first among qualifying first baseman in Major League Baseball.
