On behalf of the Northeastern men’s hockey team, I would like to thank the Northeastern students and community for their resounding support for our win over Boston College Saturday.
The school spirit on campus this fall is as high as it has ever been. Having 5,407 fans in the seats on Homecoming Day and the first advance sellout since 1995 is proof of that.
Your enthusiasm and spirit energized our entire team when we defeated top-ranked Boston College. When I came to Northeastern three years ago, I looked at our old arena as a sleeping giant. Your ‘performance’ last Saturday woke up the echoes of your historic arena and played a strong role in your team’s success. Your animated presence represented an extra attacker for the Huskies. You have the ability to participate in a unique environment and give us this extra advantage at all of our home games. You were GREAT.
The whole team is looking forward to having this type of atmosphere for every home hockey game this season and we hope you support all Northeastern athletics events. We have four more home games before holiday break – Nov. 1 against New Hampshire (UNH), Nov. 8 against Bentley, Nov. 21 against UNH and Dec. 5 against Maine. We are hoping to see all of you back in the seats making Matthews Arena a great place to play and watch college hockey.
Thanks again.
