Tuesday, October 28 1:30 p.m. A manager at the Wollaston’s in the Marino Center called the Northeastern University Division of Public Safety (NUPD) and said he was detaining a shoplifter. NUPD arrived and identified the shoplifter as Jacqueline Ponn, a woman in her 20s with no Northeastern affiliation. NUPD found out she had outstanding arrest warrants from the Boston Police Department (BPD) for vandalism and making threats, and arrested her. She was also issued a trespass warning to stay off campus.
Wednesday, October 29 Noon A graduate student reported discovering a dent in the hood of his car in the Columbus parking lot. He discovered it at 10 p.m. Tuesday after leaving it in the lot for about two hours.
3:30 p.m. A student reported his bike stolen from the bike racks outside Willis Hall. He said he left it there sometime between 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 24 and 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 25. NUPD had taken the bike for safe keeping when officers found it unsecured on the rack. The student had locked it with a cable, but the cable was gone when NUPD arrived. NUPD returned the bike to the student.
8:30 p.m. A Resident Assistant (RA) in Stetson West called NUPD after smelling marijuana in a room on the fourth floor. NUPD arrived and identified the resident of the room as a 19-year-old student, who admitted he was smoking and turned over some marijuana and a pipe. He will be reported to the Office of Student Conduct and Conflict Resolution (OSCCR).
11:30 p.m. NUPD received an anonymous call about a loud party at 97 St. Stephen St. NUPD arrived and found a group of 17-, 18- and 19-year-old students playing drinking games with beer, vodka, rum and whiskey. A 19-year-old male resident and four guests, all of whom are students, were there. All five will be reported to OSCCR, and the resident will be summonsed to court for procuring alcohol for minors.
5 p.m. A student reported his bike missing from the fence in front of Kerr Hall. He said he had locked it with a cable at 1 p.m.
A student reported her credit cards and ID stolen after falling asleep on the third floor of Snell Library. When she called the companies to cancel, she learned her credit cards had been used to purchase a T pass, RadioShack merchandise and food at McDonald’s.
An NUPD officer patrolling The Fenway heard some men yelling obscenities from a window in Melvin Hall to a woman walking on the sidewalk below. NUPD entered the building and identified the men as three 18-year-old students. They will be reported to OSCCR and residence life staff will also be filing their own report.
11:30 p.m. Two students reported their laptops stolen after they returned to their apartment at 109 St. Stephen St. and found them missing. The students had been out since 7 p.m. and left the bathroom window near a fire escape open.
Saturday, November 1 12:30 a.m. NUPD found a 20-year-old student laying unconscious and vomiting on the sidewalk near the intersection of Columbus and Massachusetts avenues. She was taken by ambulance to Boston Medical Center and will be reported to OSCCR.
4:30 a.m. An RA in Davenport A called to report a naked 19-year-old former student, who was visiting for the weekend, laying on a bathroom floor intoxicated. He had been signed in by one of the residents after being out at a number of parties. He was taken to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and was issued a campus trespass ban. NUPD said he is also a person of interest in an investigation into an allegation that he committed a sexual assault that night.
4 a.m. BPD received reports of a man walking with two people on Hemenway Street near Stetson East carrying a gun in his waistband. An NUPD officer saw two people fitting the description and stopped them in front of 120 Hemenway St. The officer checked them and determined they did not have a gun. A third man then came around a corner, turned and ran. The officer stopped him, saw a gun under his armpit and grabbed him as his gun fell to the ground. The officer identified him as a 22-year-old man visiting a student. The gun is a plastic replica of a common police semiautomatic handgun that fires pellets. When asked why he had it, he said it was part of his Halloween costume. The gun was confiscated and the man was banned from campus.
11 a.m. A student reported his laptop stolen after he had left it unattended for five minutes in the Snell Library CyberCafe.
12:30 p.m. A student reported her laptop stolen after leaving it at an event Friday evening in Centennial Commons. She put the laptop down, and realized she had forgotten it the next morning. When she went back for it, it was gone.
