The women’s basketball team kept busy over the break, posting a 1-4 record in its five contests The Huskies dropped a 70-62 decision at New Hampshire (2-11) Dec. 14. Freshman guard Brittany Wilson was a bright spot for the Huskies, scoring 11 points along with six rebounds and two steals, which earned her the Colonial Athletic Association Rookie of the Week award for that week.
Wilson once again paced the Huskies in an 80-51 loss at Massachusetts (6-8) Dec. 20, scoring 10 points while pulling down nine boards. Northeastern’s lone win during the break came Dec. 22 at Solomon Court against Holy Cross (4-10). NU prevailed 66-47 thanks to a tight defense that held the Crusaders to a 29.9 percent mark from the floor. Sophomore guard Jasmine Crew led the Huskies with 18 points and added six assists and five rebounds. Junior forward Kim Carr posted a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Wilson added eight rebounds, four points, and four assists. Northeastern continued its homestand when Delaware State (3-9) came to Solomon Court and left with a convincing 61-38 victory. Freshman guard Kashaia Cannon led NU with 10 points.
NU closed the break with a 78-72 overtime loss to Harvard (8-6) at Solomon Court. Carr had 17 points and 7 boards.
