Law professor to speak on gender identity law
Dean Spade, assistant professor of law at the Seattle University School of Law, will speak on Trans Politics in a Neoliberal Landscape Tuesday, Jan. 6, from noon to 1:30 p.m. in 230 Dockser Hall as part of the “Producing Sex: Literary, Legal, and Political Discourses” lecture series at Northeastern, according to a myNEU portal announcement. Spade teaches about sexual orientation, gender identity law and law and social movements – some of the focuses of the series. Symphony Orchestra to host open rehearsal
The NU Symphony Orchestra will host an open rehearsal Tuesday, Jan. 6 from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Fenway Center, according to the Northeastern Campus Calender. Students, employees, alumni and community members are welcome to bring their own instruments and learn about the group. The Orchestra has a limited selection of brass and woodwind instruments which can be borrowed by e-mailing [email protected] in advance.

Wind Ensemble to host open rehearsal Thursday
The NU Wind Ensemble will host an open rehearsal Thursday, Jan. 8 from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Fenway Center, according to the Northeastern Campus Calender on neu.edu. All full-time undergraduates are welcome to try out with their own instruments. Current openings are for bassoon, alto sax, tuba and percussion. Documentary and hip hop at afterHOURS
I (heart) Hip Hop in Morocco, a feature-length documentary about a determined group of young Moroccan hip hop artists who create the country’s first hip hop festival, will play in afterHours from 8 p.m. to 9:30 p.m, according to the Northeastern Campus Calender. Unconscious Logic, a socially-conscious hip hop group from Brooklyn, will then perform from 10 p.m. to 11 p.m. The event is NU +1.

Social Change through Peace Games to meet
The first meeting for Social Change through Peace Games (SCtPG) will be held Monday, Jan. 12 from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. in 106 Shillman, according to the Northeastern Campus Calender. SCtPG is a community service group that aims to “create a culture of social change and peacemaking on the Northeastern University campus and beyond, through special events, projects, international work and collaboration with like-minded student organizations.” SCtPG works with the international non-profit organization Peace Games to create programs in various elementary schools around campus.
