The swimming and diving team defeated James Madison 150.5-149.5 Saturday afternoon in Barletta Natatorium.
Senior co-captain Elena Alvarez led the team to the win, placing first in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:06.30) and second place in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:24.54). Vidarsson selected to All-South Atlantic team
Last week the National Soccer Coaches of America Association All-Region teams were announced. Due to participation in the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Northeastern players were considered for the All-South Atlantic region. The CAA received 13 spots on the All-South Atlantic teams, including one from Northeastern. Sophomore defender Petur Vidarsson was named to the third team. Vidarsson started all but one of the Huskies’ 20 games this season. He also tallied a goal and an assist. Vidarsson and the Husky defense broke team records in shutouts with 10, fewest goals allowed with 17 and fewest losses with only five. He was named to the All-CAA first team this season. His defensive play helped lead the Huskies to the CAA finals with shutouts in both the quarterfinals and semifinals. In the finals they allowed only one goal.
