A 21-year-old Northeastern student, was killed in an automobile accident in his hometown of North Easton, Mass. Sunday, Dec. 21.
According to a release by the Easton Police Department, Edwin Keach was driving home at approximately 3 a.m. when his car hit several tires that were lying in the middle of the road.
Keach’s car then continued on for approximately 150 feet before striking a tree and catching on fire.
The accident occurred in the area of 55 Chestnut St. where a nearby resident called 911 and attempted to put out the car’s flames with a fire extinguisher, but was unsuccessful.
Officials are still investigating how the tires managed to be placed in the middle of the road. The Bristol County District Attorney’s Office, the Bristol County Police Crimes investigation unit and the State Fire Marshall’s office are all involved in the ongoing investigation.
