Pearl Rimon was elected to the position of Vice President for Programming and Harlan Kaine was elected to the position of Alumni Affairs Coordinator at the Resident Student Association (RSA) meeting last Wednesday.
The election for the position of Senior Residential Assistant Representative has been postponed until the next meeting. There is only one nomination on the table. RSA members were divided over voting on the position Wednesday evening or waiting another two weeks. Matt Soleyn, a RSA member who attended the meeting, said RSA postponed the election because more people might consider running for the position, which was not expected to be filled until summer.
Senior Resident Asst. Representative election is scheduled to occur April 14. The process for nomination requires a nomination with support of two current members and a petition or a move to be nominated during a meeting.
Student Government Association (SGA) President Ryan Fox and Senator Sean Mahoney presented the budget priorities announced by the university. Soleyn said the SGA representatives attended the RSA meeting was because some of the ideas were suggested by RSA last October. For example, the university has addressed improvements to Outtakes and extended dining hall hours. Additionally, Northeastern has committed to fulfilling the request for the installation of filtered water stations for re-usable bottles throughout campus over the summer.
The RSA meeting also presented some campaign controversies. According to Soleyn, who is also an SGA senator, Ryan Fox did not attend the meeting because of his SGA Presidential re-election but handed out literature regardless.
