Hamster aggression study no longer funded by the NIH

A Northeastern professor’s research project about the effect of anabolic steroids on hamster aggression lost its funding from the National Institutes of Health (NIH), according to a report released Sept. 13 by People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA).

Breakfast Club volunteers clean up Boston neighborhoods

Dozens of students hit the streets surrounding campus Sunday to beautify the Fenway and Mission Hill neighborhoods after a weekend of partying and littering. The group, called the Breakfast Club, meets almost every Sunday of the school year to pick up trash and give back to the community.

The Northeastern Graduate Student Government (GSG) is celebrating the successful inauguration of a new graduate-students-only study space open after hours in Rebecca’s Cafe from 5 to 11 p.m. The addition is one of many university initiatives announced in response to graduate student requests — which also included improved access to affordable childcare, renovation to the RedEye shuttle service and increased funding allotted for graduate professional development.

Graduate Employees of Northeastern University hosted a panel Tuesday to discuss the effects of unionization on students in science, technology, engineering and mathematics as the group continues to attempt to create a union for graduate-level on-campus employees in conjunction with the United Autoworkers Union.
