Seniors pick up season finale win over Hofstra

Baseball opens season with 3 games in Florida

After a 7-6 loss in their season opener Friday, the baseball team wrapped up its weekend road trip against Jacksonville University by splitting a Saturday double header. Junior pitcher Kevin Ferguson picked up an 8-1 win after Northeastern lost the first game of the back-to-back, 1-4. The Dolphins started the first of Saturday’s games aggressively after Northeastern’s starting junior pitcher Dylan Maki walked sophomore infielder Taylor Ratliff. Sophomore pitcher Chris Anderson drove him home on an RBI single. Senior outfielder Jonathan Murphy extended Jacksonville’s lead later in the inning after driving in two runs on a double.

Playoff destiny still unknown

The men’s hockey team’s playoff fate will be decided the final weekend of the season after the Huskies split last weekend’s series with the No. 10 University of Maine. Northeastern (12-15-5, 8-13-4 Hockey East) earned a vital 4-2 victory Feb. 24 to stay in the playoff race before Maine dominated 7-1 the following night.
