The men’s hockey team has won five straight games after sweeping the then No. 2 team in the nation, the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, Ind. The two-game weekend road series improves the Huskies record to 6-7-2 on the season (3-7-2 Hockey East Conference).

Women’s hockey erases brief slump, ties, then wins two

After three straight losses and a win against the No. 7 Boston University Terriers last Wednesday turned the No. 10 Northeastern Huskies around. The team has earned points in their last five games in a 4-1 victory Wednesday night at Matthews arena. Freshman forward Kendall Coyne had a goal and two assists for her fifth consecutive multipoint game. Goalie Florence Schelling made 29 saves in the victory.

Swimming & Diving Torpedos UMass

My introduction to the Northeastern men’s hockey team came on Friday, Oct. 19, 2007. In the first game of the 2007-2008 season, Providence came to Matthews Arena and the two teams produced a thrilling game. Ryan Ginand instantly became my favorite Husky after scoring two goals, including one with about five minutes to go. Chris Donovan drove to the net and scored the game winner 44 seconds into overtime. The Huskies were 1-0 and I was hooked.

The men’s hockey team earned its third consecutive win at the University of Michigan on Friday night at Yost Ice Arena in Ann Arbor, Mich., with a 4-1 non-conference victory.

Three game skid halted at home vs. Terriers

With three losses behind them, the No. 10 Northeastern Huskies were looking to reverse a losing streak against No. 7 Boston University Terriers yesterday night at Matthews Arena. That’s just what they got when they blanked the team from Commonwealth Avenue 2-0. The 32-save effort from senior goalie Florence Schelling earned her a nation leading fifth shut out of the season.

Swimming & Diving: NU sinks rivals

The swimming and diving team competed in the BU Invitational Nov. 18 to Nov. 20, finishing in second place out of 10 teams with 567.5 points. The meet does not count towards the Huskies overall record, but it did give the team experience for meets that have a similar championship format.
