Final from TD Garden: BC 5, NU 4

March 18, 2011
Boston College’s 5-4 win in Friday night’s Hockey East semifinal at the TD Garden left the Eagles with a one-goal win. But as Northeastern head coach Greg Cronin said after the game, it was more than one specific goal that left the Huskies heading back to Huntington Avenue without a conference title for the 23rd straight year.

The baseball team dropped its home opener 6-4 as Brown University spoiled the Huskies’ debut at a renovated Friedman Diamond Tuesday. Sophomore shortstop Jimmy Filter’s triple scored two baserunners, temporarily giving the Huskies a 2-1 lead. Column: Wild week at BU

March 17, 2011
The Huskies’ quarterfinal series victory over Boston University was, in a word, surreal. I wrote back in December that in Greg Cronin’s coaching career at Northeastern, he had only two wins in 22 tries against BU. In my four seasons (including this one) at Northeastern, I had only witnessed one of them. But in the last two weeks alone, I saw not only three wins, but three wins in Agganis Arena – a building that the Huskies have struggled to succeed in for the past six years.

Men’s Hockey: Huskies lose 5-2 in penalty-filled game two

March 12, 2011
Head coach Greg Cronin could only shake his head in disbelief during a third period call that went against his Northeastern squad, which was down 4-2 to Boston University and facing its 10th man-down opportunity on Friday night. It was that type of game for the Huskies, who are third in the nation in penalty minutes per game and couldn’t get rolling during the second game of the Hockey East quarterfinals at Agganis Arena, losing 5-2 to the No. 13 Terriers.
