Basketball fans at Matthews Arena were treated to a thrilling season opener on Tuesday that came down to the final shot. In the end, Northeastern men’s basketball fell to the Boston University Terriers by a score of 77-74 after senior guard Vasa Pusica missed on a difficult three point attempt at the buzzer.

Looking ahead at the 2018-19 men’s basketball season

Northeastern men’s basketball continues to make a name for itself, being named the Colonial Athletic Association Preseason Favorite. The team received 35 first place votes which beat out last year’s conference champions the University of Charleston.

Pusica led Northeastern on a dominant, 20-4 run early in the first half, staking themselves to a 32-11 lead. Harvard had missed eight consecutive shots at that point, and the Crimson were visibly frustrated on the court. Northeastern was 7-14 from three in the half, and outscored Harvard in the paint.
