Comprised of four venues: the Middle East upstairs, the Middle East downstairs, Zuzu and the Corner, the Middle East, located on Massach-usetts Avenue in Cambridge, offers a wide variety of musical acts.
Known for its ability to book some of the hottest acts nationwide, the Middle East has hosted Deathcab for Cutie, The Sounds and Cursive — just to name a few. The Middle East also offers an artistic environment, showcasing art on the walls and a mural outside the building. With upcoming acts including Cake, Mates of State and Iron ‘ Wine, it’s no wonder why the Middle East was voted NU’s “Best Live Music Venue.”
Also nominated, as one of NU’s best was the Paradise Rock Club, located on Commonwealth Avenue. For 25 years, Paradise has continued their commitment to creating a place dedicated to music and all it involves.
The Paradise recently added a brand new room, the Paradise Lounge, a restaurant and bar, complete with 25 years of photos from the Paradise adorning the walls. Upcoming acts to appear at the Paradise are The Waifs, Fastball and The Raveonettes.
Two other popular live music venues are the All Asia Cafe, in Cambridge, and Northeastern’s own, after-HOURS. While both are considerably smaller when compared, the Middle East and the Paradise, they offer an intimate atmosphere, perfect for musical acts that are just starting out.
