As most of you know, the Council for University Programs (CUP) is sponsoring a concert this Saturday, Sept. 18. Student leaders have spent significant time and resources planning and organizing this event and I know that students are looking forward to it. The concert is open only to Northeastern students who have purchased tickets in advance and who present their valid Husky ID at the door.
It goes without saying that we expect all concert-goers and all students to behave in a respectful, considerate and appropriate manner before, during and after the concert, as you would on any other evening. I wish to remind you to extend this respect and courtesy to our neighbors in the surrounding community. Northeastern’s Public Safety Division and the Boston Police Department will be present to ensure the safety and security of students and community residents.
I also wish to remind you that any inappropriate behavior, disorderly conduct or destruction of property will absolutely not be tolerated. The university will take swift action against any students whose behavior is deemed detrimental to themselves, their peers, the university or the surrounding community.
The Student Handbook and Student Code of Conduct sets forth the guidelines for behavior and the sanctions for violations. While we fully anticipate a highly successful concert, we will not hesitate to immediately file charges and impose sanctions against any students who violate the Code of Conduct, up to and including expulsion.
In recent months, there has been an intense focus on the behavior of students at Northeastern and other universities. I am confident the behavior of Northeastern students at this upcoming concert will make the entire university community proud. I commend CUP and the student leadership for their efforts in organizing the concert, and look forward to an enjoyable and successful event. See you on Saturday.
