This is a response to the article on campus groups rushing to take in students. every year the martial art groups struggle to claim a spot in the only place on campus able to support a program, Studio B in the marino. I myself have the job of president of the Judo club and over the past year we saw a complete turn around and remap of the club sports here on campus. We now have 2 judo programs, both of which are going to hit capacity and will still be turning away students, reluctantly. Despite repeated request for newer, safer mats, and a larger spot to practice, we get no where. The wrestling team, to there luck aquired a new place last year, along with the purchase of new wrestling mats. However, from what I have been told, I took 4 years for this to happen. The university wants and expects a nationally recognized and competing team, however with no space to grow and no way to accept new talent, this will be a very difficult task.
