Tuesday, Jan. 18
8:30 a.m.
A professor in the Mugar Life Sciences Building reported a laptop and a digital camera missing from a lab. They were last seen mid-December.
2:30 p.m.
Service staff in the library noticed a coin-operated copier was vandalized. The coin container showed signs of an attempted theft. No money was stolen.
5:30 p.m.
A student reported that while waiting to cross at the intersection of Westland Avenue and Hemenway Street, a man took her wallet from her pocket. The wallet contained $20, IDs and credit cards.
Wednesday, Jan. 19
3 p.m.
The manager of Wollaston’s at the Marino Center reported a student attempting to steal snack food. The 19-year-old student admitted to a Northeastern University Division of Public Safety (NUPD) officer that he tried to steal the food and said it was a stupid act. He was banned from both Wollaston’s stores and will be reported to the Office of Student Conduct and Conflict Resolution (OSCCR).
4:30 p.m.
A student reported her iPhone missing from Curry Student Center, where she accidentally left it at 2 p.m. to go to the library. When she realized it was missing, she went back and it was gone.
6 p.m.
A student left class on the first floor of Dodge Hall at 2:30 p.m. He later realized he didn’t have his wallet and thought it fell out in the classroom earlier. He went back while another class was in progress but it was gone. The wallet contained one dollar, a driver’s license, his NU ID and a Barnes & Noble gift card.
6:30 p.m.
A student called to report his apartment on St. Cyprian Street was broken into for the second time in a month. A Wii gaming system and PlayStation were taken. He later found out from neighbors that they called police earlier that day because there was a suspicious man knocking on doors.
8:45 p.m.
An NUPD officer saw an intoxicated person in Matthew’s Arena. The 18-year-old male was a guest of a student and was taken to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.
9:30 p.m.
An NUPD officer went to Smith Hall to visit an 18-year-old male student as part of an ongoing drug investigation. The detective confiscated a pipe, whiskey and a small bag containing less than an ounce of marijuana. The student admitted to smoking marijuana in the room and will be reported to OSCCR.
10 p.m.
A resident assistant (RA) in Speare Hall reported the strong odor of marijuana on the second floor. An NUPD officer followed the odor to a room with four students, three 18-year-olds and a 19-year-old, where there was a fan blowing and a towel under the door. Two of the students admitted to smoking, one denied and the other was non-committal. Less than one ounce of marijuana was confiscated along with some beer. All of the students will be reported to OSCCR.
Thursday, Jan. 20
3 a.m.
An NUPD officer patrolling the tunnels of the academic buildings found a person sleeping in the basement of Hayden Hall. She woke up and became disorderly. Sheila Deery, a 49-year-old homeless alumna with a prior criminal record, was arrested for trespassing.
7:30 p.m.
A 23-year-old student was skateboarding across Huntington Avenue at Forsyth Street with his iPod on very loudly. He skateboarded into the path of a Green Line trolley and got clipped. He walked to University Health and Counseling Services (UHCS) with some bruises but was not injured.
8 p.m.
A student picked up her wallet at the lost and found and reported $100 in cash and $250 in gift cards missing from it. She had lost it between noon and 2 p.m. Jan. 15 on campus but never reported it stolen. A Speare Hall proctor called NUPD to say the wallet was turned in to him Jan. 15 at 11 p.m.
9 p.m.
NUPD contacted a 20-year-old student to pick up her wallet at the lost and found. There was a valid license that belonged to someone else in her wallet, and when asked about it, said she found it, then said her friend found it and gave it to her. She denied using it but then said her mother knew she had it. NUPD contacted the 22-year-old owner who was unknown to the student and has no affiliation with the university. The student will be reported to OSCCR.
9:15 p.m.
A 27-year-old student reported that while he was talking on his iPhone at the intersection of St. Botolph Street and Massachusetts Avenue when a man came up to him and took his iPhone right out of his hand. The man ran off with the phone.
10:30 p.m.
A New England Conservatory student inside his building reported he could see a man pulling on every car door handle and peering in each car on the roof of the Gainsborough Garage. NUPD arrested Roberto Rodriguez, 40, a Boston resident, for trespassing and attempted larceny from a motor vehicle. Rodriguez was wanted on a burglary warrant from the Boston Police Department (BPD). While he was being booked, he was threatening officers so he was also charged with intimidating witnesses and burglary.
Friday, Jan. 21
1:15 a.m.
BPD and NUPD were both called about a loud party at 60 Fenway Apt. 15, a private building. Callers believed Northeastern students were involved. BPD told NUPD it was the second time a noise complaint had been received recently at this address. As people left the party, some jumped out of the second floor windows to avoid police. The host, a 20-year-old student, will be reported to OSCCR.
1:30 a.m.
A proctor in Speare Hall reported an 18-year-old student was carried into the building and was vomiting in the women’s bathroom on the first floor. After being evaluated, she was taken to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and will be reported to OSCCR.
10:30 p.m.
Several callers reported a loud party at 980 Tremont St. BPD asked NUPD officers to respond and they found a lot of students in the basement of a four bedroom apartment. Most of the attendees left while some crawled out windows to avoid police and others told officers they paid $5 to get in. NUPD did not take names or IDs from party attendees. The host was a 21-year-old student who admitted she charged admission. She will be reported to OSCCR and BPD was informed of the illegal party.
11 p.m.
A proctor in International Village (INV) reported an intoxicated male was just signed into the building by a student. NUPD responded and found that an 18-year-old student signed in an 18-year-old Boston College student who had vomited all over himself after drinking off campus. The Northeastern student was not intoxicated but will be reported to OSCCR. The Boston College student was taken to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and NUPD notified Boston College Police.
Saturday, Jan. 22
3:45 a.m
A proctor in INV reported an intoxicated student was carried into the building by two other students. NUPD went to the ninth floor, where the student lived, and asked an RA to open the door where they found an unconscious 18-year-old student. He was taken to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center by ambulance and will be reported to OSCCR.
11:45 p.m.
A 19-year-old student in INV reported her friend, an 18-year-old student, consumed a large amount of vodka and was very intoxicated. The intoxicated student was taken to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and will be reported to OSCCR.
Sunday, Jan. 23
9 p.m.
An RA reported the strong odor of marijuana on the fourth floor of Stetson West. An NUPD officer responded and followed the scent to a room where he found two residents, 18 and 19. They claimed to have been smoking a legal herbal substance and turned over pipes. NUPD had encountered both students for previous marijuana use on campus. Both will be reported to OSCCR again.
Monday, Jan. 24
12:30 a.m.
An NUPD officer saw an intoxicated man on a bike on Columbus Avenue. The man’s eyes were glazed and he had vomited on himself. The 20-year-old was a student at Boston University and said he was drinking with friends from Northeastern. He did not need medical attention and NUPD drove him to the Boston University campus. – Entry of the Week
9:30 p.m.
An RA reported the strong odor of marijuana on the first floor of Speare Hall. NUPD officers found a towel under the door and a fan running. When they opened the door, breaking the tape around the door frame, they discovered a 19-year-old student. He turned over hallucinogenic mushrooms, prescription pills for which he had no prescription, a vaporizer and less than an ounce of marijuana. He will be reported to OSCCR. He provided information about his supplier, another student, and NUPD detectives will follow-up.
Tuesday, Jan. 25
1 a.m.
Students in Davenport A called to report loud noise coming from an adjacent apartment. NUPD officers responded and found five students in the apartment playing loud music. Officers found a very strong odor of marijuana and confiscated less than an ounce of marijuana. The resident and his four guests, one 19-year-old, three 20-year-olds and one 21-year-old, all Northeastern students, admitted they were smoking. They will all be reported to OSCCR.
