11 a.m.
Staff in Snell Library reported a computer was missing from a storage room. The staff member said several spare computers were stored in the room, but only one was missing.
10 p.m.
A Northeastern University Division of Public Safety (NUPD) officer on patrol in Centennial Common recognized a 14-year-old male who was arrested last spring for indecently grabbing a female student on Leon Street. The boy hid behind a group of bushes. The boy is on probation and has a 6 p.m. curfew, so officers contacted his mother and took him home. He will be summonsed for violating his curfew.
Wednesday, July 20
2:30 p.m.
A student reported that his bicycle was missing from the Snell Library Quad. He had locked it with a cable lock at noon.
8:30 p.m.
A student reported the front tire of his bicycle was stolen. He locked his bicycle with a U-shaped lock in front of Davenport A at 7 p.m. the previous night, but did not secure the front tire.
Thursday, July 21
6:30 p.m.
A high school student attending a summer program on campus and her friend reported that they were assaulted by a man near the corner of Huntington Avenue and Gainsborough Street. The women said a man threw a beer bottle at one of them and shoved the other. NUPD found and arrested Robert Gaul, 37, of Mattapan, who was wanted for assault and battery by the Boston Police Department (BPD). Gaul has no affiliation with the university.
Friday, July 22
2:30 a.m.
An 18-year-old resident of Davenport B reported that her visitor, a 19-year-old student, was intoxicated and passed out. EMTs responded and evaluated the student, who was left at the apartment. He will be reported to the Office of Student Conduct and Conflict Resolution (OSCCR).
2 p.m.
Bookstore staff reported seeing a man acting suspiciously in the store. After reviewing surveillance video, they discovered the man shoplifted several clothing items. Officers found and arrested the man, Frederick Camp, 49, of Dorchester, for shoplifting. All the stolen clothing was recovered. Camp has no affiliation with the university.
Saturday, July 23
10:30 a.m.
A student reported that while walking from International Village (INV) to his West Village apartment at 1 a.m., a man with a knife approached him and robbed him on Forsyth Street. The man took the student’s cell phone and about $50. The student said he waited to report the crime because he didn’t have a phone and was somewhat intoxicated at the time of the robbery.
Monday, July 25
Noon
A student reported that she locked her bicycle outside the Cabot Physical Education Center with a cable lock July 21. When she returned July 25, her bike and lock were both gone.
10:30 p.m.
NUPD officers arrested Paul McCleandon, 42, of Boston on St. Botolph Street after he was stopped for public drinking. McCleandon was wanted by Lynn police for intimidating a witness in an assault and battery case.
Tuesday, July 26
6:30 p.m.
A man attending a conference on campus reported that while walking through the Snell Library Quad, a group of young people on bikes hit him in the back of the head. Officers could not find the juveniles in the area, but BPD arrested a man for an identical offense at 7 p.m. by Beacon and Newbury Streets.
10:30 p.m.
A student reported that he locked his bike with a cable lock outside Snell Library around 8 p.m. When he returned, the bike was gone.
Wednesday, July 27
5:30 p.m.
A proctor at 780 Columbus reported a fight outside the building. Officers responded and discovered an elderly local resident involved in an argument with a man whose car broke down on Columbus Avenue. The resident was annoyed by the noise and fumes from the tow truck and began arguing with the car’s owner, who knocked the elderly man down. The car owner will be summonsed to court.
6 p.m.
A student reported she locked her bicycle with a cable lock in Krentzman Quad at 8 a.m. When she walked through the quad at 10:15 a.m., she discovered her bike was missing.
Thursday, July 28
11 p.m.
An officer on Davenport Street stopped a man who appeared to be tinkering with a bicycle. Johnny Correa, 32, of Roslindale, was arrested on a default warrant from Charlestown.
Friday, July 29
Noon
An outside contractor working on the Gainsborough Street garage project reported that he left a small, portable generator on the main level the previous night. When he returned on Friday, the generator was gone. He said several contractors had access to the area.
3:30 p.m.
A student reported that while in her off-campus apartment on Hemenway Street, a strange man opened her bedroom door, turned around and ran off. Officers responded and searched the apartment and found the back door was forced open, but did not find the man. The student reported that her wallet, which had been in the living room, was missing. BPD was informed and is investigating the incident.
5 p.m.
A staff member reported that he left his office in Snell Engineering unattended for an hour and a half. When he returned, his cell phone was missing from his desk.
Saturday, July 30
11:30 p.m.
An officer saw three men sitting on the patio outside the Marino Center and smelled marijuana. The officer watched as one of the men flicked the remnants of a joint into the street and observed that he had an open bottle of vodka on the table. The men, a student and two guests, were initially uncooperative and denied they were students. The student will be reported to OSCCR and the guests were issued trespass warnings.
Sunday, July 31
4 p.m.
Library staff members reported a fight on the second floor. Two friends, both students, got into an argument over a girl and began pushing each other and throwing punches. Both students will be reported to OSCCR.
10:30 p.m.
While exiting Symphony Market, an officer saw a car hit a bicyclist on Huntington Avenue and immediately approached the bicyclist. A second officer responded and the car attempted to leave the scene. The driver was trying to make a U-turn when she backed up and hit the bicyclist. The female driver and a male passenger were belligerent when an officer asked for their licenses and the driver assaulted an officer. Two officers restrained and arrested the woman, Tanjalyn Singleton, 31, of Cambridge for disorderly conduct, two counts of assault and battery on a police officer and resisting arrest. The passenger, Alexander Delarosa, 35, of Jamaica Plain, was arrested for disorderly conduct, assault and battery on a police officer and resisting arrest. A third passenger, who remained in the car, was not arrested. BPD also responded with a prisoner transport vehicle because Singleton continued kicking after being handcuffed. Upon arriving at the jail, Singleton kicked an officer in the stomach.
While investigating the incident, officers spoke to the manager of Pizzeria Uno, who said Singleton and Delarosa left the restaurant without paying. The third passenger paid the restaurant bill.
Sunday, July 31
11:45 a.m.
A student reported that he locked his bicycle with a cable lock and a U-shaped lock outside 407 Huntington Ave. at 11 p.m. Saturday and found the bike gone Sunday morning. He said he heard a lot of noise outside overnight, but didn’t check to see what was happening. It remains unclear whether the U-shaped lock was locking the bike to the rack, or the wheels to the bike.
Monday, August 1
9 a.m.
A facilities employee reported he left the office door open when he left the building around 8 a.m. When he returned, the door was closed and he realized there was a person standing behind it. The man approached a teenager, who said he was finishing a phone call and then left. As the teen left the building, the employee followed him and called NUPD with a description of him. Within minutes, officers spotted the teen on Tremont Street and stopped him after a brief chase. The boy, 16, from Somerville, had a stolen Northeastern hat in his backpack and he was arrested for burglary. The employee also reported finding ejaculate on his office desk.
6 p.m.
A patrolling officer observed a female light a pipe of marijuana at the corner of St. Stephen and Gainsborough Streets. The officer spoke to the woman, a 48-year-old former cocaine addict from Boston, and asked her to leave campus.
