10:07 p.m.
Northeastern University Division of Public Safety (NUPD) officers responded to an alarm at the Wollaston’s in the Marino Center. The cashier told officers two juvenile boys fled the store after attempting to steal candy and other items.
Tuesday, May 8
1:24 p.m.
An NUPD officer stopped a student who was throwing bottles onto train tracks from the footbridge near the Egan Research Center. The student had prior violations for disorderly conduct and larceny, as well as an active trespass warning for the Cabot Center, the SquashBusters facility and the Marino Center. The student will be reported to the Office of Student Conduct and Conflict Resolution (OSCCR).
5:20 p.m.
A student reported that his Comcast cable box was stolen from his Douglass Park residence.
Wednesday, May 9
8:31 a.m.
The manager of 97 St. Stephen St. reported a large snake inside an aquarium in the basement. An officer responded and confirmed that a two-and-a-half-foot long, one-inch thick, brown, black and tan snake was inside a small aquarium covered with a board and a brick. Animal control was contacted and took possession of the snake.
Thursday, May 10
12:03 a.m.
A staff member in the basement of Hayden Hall reported he found the glass front of an ice cream vending machine smashed in. An NUPD officer responded and reported it appeared someone had tried to pry open the cash box but was unsuccessful. Officers notified the vending company.
6:04 p.m.
A student in the West Village Quad reported two young boys pushed her to the ground, took her iPhone and fled on Parker Street towards Ruggles Street. NUPD officers searched for subjects fitting the suspect descriptions. The victim declined medical aid.
Friday, May 11
12:48 a.m.
A proctor in West Village H reported a student who appeared intoxicated was carried into the building and signed in by his friends. NUPD officers responded but no one
answered the door when they knocked. A Resident Assistant (RA) also responded and opened the door. The 21-year-old student was sleeping, and he was allowed to remain in his room after officers evaluated him.
4:12 p.m.
An officer reported that a Northeastern staff member’s university-owned iPad went missing on a Massachusetts Bay Commuter Railroad train on April 30. The staff member reported that the iPad did not contain any sensitive information.
8:10 p.m.
A recent graduate reported he was arguing with his girlfriend, a current student, and she was texting him saying she planned to kill herself. He refused to identify himself or his girlfriend. He only reported she was on the MBTA’s orange line somewhere in the North End, and she lived off-campus. The former student’s first name was identified on his voicemail and the officer was able to contact him to gain further information. He said his girlfriend was on her way back to her St. Stephen Street home but was still making threats to harm herself. An officer responded to the current student’s residence and was able to make contact with her. The officer reported the student did not have suicidal tendencies. The student cooperated and was allowed to return to her residence.
10:40 p.m.
Office of Residential Life staff reported the smell of a Class D drug coming from the fifth floor of Willis Hall. An officer spoke with three students and confiscated a glass pipe.
Saturday, May 12
2:42 p.m.
An RA reported a man on Centennial Commons appeared to be carrying a pellet rifle.
NUPD officers responded and stopped the man, who has no university affiliation. They confiscated the pellet rifle and the man was sent on his way.
Monday, May 14
12:19 p.m.
A student reported her iPhone was stolen from a table on the first floor of Snell Library while she was speaking to someone. NUPD detectives reviewed video footage of the library and saw two men, who looked like high school students, sneak into the library through an exit door on the first floor and rush out of the main entrance a few minutes later. The subjects fled towards Ruggles Station.
2:28 p.m.
A student reported she fell asleep in Curry Student Center (CSC) between 12:00 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. When she awoke, her laptop was missing. NUPD officers searched the area for the
laptop but did not find it.
2:38 p.m.
A student reported she paid $248 via a Western Union money order to someone who has no university affiliation for a two-night stay at the Ritz-Carlton. When she went to the hotel, she was told that there were no reservations with the confirmation number she had.
6:05 p.m.
A student reported his roommate logged into his Northeastern email account. He said
the roommate left him a voicemail apologizing for using the account. An officer reported the student has since changed his password.
Tuesday, May 15
10:00 a.m.
A staff member reported her wallet was stolen from her unsecured office in Dockser Hall Monday between 1 and 2 p.m. Several other staff members reported they had noticed a 16- to 19-year-old boy was sweating, acting nervous and asking how to get out of the building.
12:41 p.m.
A Snell Library staff member reported she saw two suspects wanted in connection with a theft from the library. She said she noticed the two people attempt to enter the library through an exit door, and told them they could not enter that way. They then walked to the main entrance of the library and stood there. NUPD officers responded and stopped the two 15-year-old subjects in front of Hayden Hall. One of them was found to have a previous trespass warning and was taken into custody. The other was sent on his way with a warning.
1:55 p.m.
A staff member reported her laptop was missing from an unlocked office in CSC.
5:41 p.m.
A staff member at the Marino Center reported that a man was sitting in the lounge area near the men’s locker room and refusing to show ID. NUPD officers responded and stopped a man fitting the description outside of Wollaston’s. He said he thought he could use the lounge area. He was given a warning.
Wednesday, May 16
10:30 p.m.
Students reported a possible domestic dispute between a male and a female on Forsyth Street near Shillman Hall. The man walked towards a nearby access road and the woman walked into Ruggles Station. NUPD officers responded and spoke with the man,
who has no university affiliation. He said he had a verbal argument with his girlfriend,
who also has no university affiliation. Officers spoke to the female by cell phone and confirmed the argument was only verbal.
Thursday, May 17
7:30 a.m.
A staff member in Dodge Hall reported a vending machine appeared to have been broken into. An NUPD officer responded and confirmed the vending machine was broken into and money was missing from the machine. Officers notified the vending company.
Saturday, May 19
1:03 a.m.
A student reported hearing loud music from the first floor of 136 Hemenway St. An NUPD officer
responded and spoke to the residents, three Northeastern students. They were told to turn off the music for the night.
9:47 p.m.
Someone unaffiliated with the university reported a group of kids were throwing bottles as he walked with his wife in the Camden Parking Area. He could not provide a description of the kids and said he did not know if the bottles were being thrown directly at him, as he had simply heard the glass break in his general area.
