Men’s basketball’ team headed to Wyoming for CBI
The men’s basketball team will travel to Laramie, Wyo. Tuesday night to take on the Wyoming Cowboys in the College Basketball Invitational (CBI) tournament.
‘ The Cowboys, of the Mountain West conference, finished the season with a 17-12 record. They lost to Utah in the semifinals of the Mountain West Tournament.
Northeastern finished third in the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) and dropped its last game to Towson in the CAA quarterfinals.
The Huskies and the Cowboys have never met. The winner will then play either Nevada or UTEP Monday, March 23.
This is the first postseason appearance for Northeastern, who is 18-12 this year, since the 2005 season, when the Huskies lost to Memphis in the first round of the National Invitational Tournament (NIT).

Track puts up good showing at Seahawk Invitational
Both the men’s and women’s track teams had successful weekends at the Seahawk Invitational in Wilmington, N.C. this weekend, as each team finished in third out of the seven teams invited to the meet.
On the men’s side, sophomore Teddy Vrountas placed first in the 5000-meter run with a time of 15:17.96. His time was 20 seconds faster than the second place finisher.
Senior Bamidele Faboyede won the hammer event, throwing at a distance of 56.79 meters.
Junior Adrian Li came away with the win in the high jump event, posting a 1.95-meter jump.
On the woman’s side, both sophomore Porshe Giddings and senior Brittany Moriarty were victorious in their respective events.
In the 100-meter dash, Giddings posted a winning time of 11.81 seconds. She was the only sprinter in the event to finish in less than 12 seconds.
Moriarty won the 5000-meter run with a time of 17:35.63. Sophomore Kristen Martin was also strong in the event, finishing in third place, with a time of 17:55.38.
Both teams will next compete at the Husky Spring Invitational, hosted by Northeastern, next weekend.
