Last year’s 7-1 loss to Boston College in the first round of the Beanpot left a bad taste in Northeastern students’ mouths – expectations weren’t exactly high for the first round of the 2013 Beanpot against Boston University. But then, the almost unthinkable happened. One goal, then two, then three, all from standout rookie forward Kevin Roy. Pretty good timing for his first career hat trick. And that was all it took to take down the Terriers, who netted one at 18:49 in the final period to pull within one goal for the 3-2 Husky victory. Northeastern went on to lose in the finals thanks to a 6-3 stomping at the hands of BC, but for a week, Husky fans watched clips of Roy’s hat tricks, hoping the hardware might return to Huntington Avenue. Maybe next year, Northeastern. There’s always next year.
