TD Garden is the home of the Boston Bruins and Boston Celtics, also known as The Garden. IT is a multi-purpose arena in Boston that also hosts concerts and convention events. The Garden was opened in September of 1995 and was most recently renovated in 2009 when it was nominated for Sports Facility of the Year by Sports Business Journal. Construction costs were over $160 million and it connects to public transport via North Station, also located in the building.
TD Garden has hosted a variety of prestigious sporting events including the 2008 and 2010 NBA Finals, the 2011 and 2013 Stanley Cup Finals, the 2001 US Figure Skating Championships and the 2000 US Gymnastics Trials. The venue has also hosted some of the biggest names in entertainment including Tim Allen, Louis C.K., Lady Gaga and Mumford and Sons.
Northeastern University hosts its commencement ceremonies at TD Garden and participates in the Beanpot here each year.
